- The next Talking Tuezdays, Speeding Up Your Job Search, will be July 8 at WDBJ7. Talking Tuezdays is a forum for job seekers to showcase themselves and to network with each other, meet employers and find educational programs and resources to increase their career potential. Eric Melniczek will be the keynote speaker. He will talk about creative career and job search strategies online and offline. This will be a brown bag event, so bring your own lunch and we will provide drinks and dessert.

McAirland’s opens its North American headquarters near Rocky Mount
McAirlaid’s Vliesstoffe GmbH & Co. KG opened its North American headquarters in the Franklin County Commerce Center south of Rocky Mount. The German-based company makes non-woven composite materials for absorbency end uses. It is the first foreign-owned company in Franklin County, according to CEO Alexander Maksimow. The company plans to employ 165 people in Franklin County.

Arkay Packaging Is Growing In Botetourt
Arkay Packaging Corporation, printer and manufacturer of premium high-quality folding cartons and packaging, broke ground February 7 for a 62,000-square foot, $4.5 million expansion, essentially doubling the size of its Botetourt County facility. Arkay opened its Roanoke Valley manufacturing facility in 1996 in Botetourt County’s EastPark Commerce Center and expanded in December 2004. Approximately 170 people currently are employed at Arkay.
